Area Support Unit London Wolseley Barracks 701 Oxford St E London, Ontario N5 Y 4T7
1000-1(CEO)
April 2010
The Department of National Defence, Area Support Unit (ASU) London, used this product in 2008 with excellent results. The Armoury in St. Thomas, ON required a new roof. After extensive research it was deemed that due to the high wind conditions, an alternate material was required other than asphalt shingles. Also, due to the heritage value of the building, the product must reflect this status within the community. The reoccurring maintenance expense of the roof was also taken into account. Authentic Roof by Crowe Building Products Ltd. was awarded the contract.
Since 2008, Authentic Roof has stood up against the high winds, ice and sleet without an maintenance issues. The roof has not faded and retained its color ensuring the heritage look of the Armoury. Since the product has been installed a substantial cost savings in maintenance, heating and cooling has been realized.
My Engineering Officer, Conrad Passant, recommends this product not only for retrofit but also new construction for cost savings and a green solution. Please feel free to contact him at 519-660-5275 extension 5109 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
G.C. Barbour Major Commanding Officer |

Dear Jennifer,
I just wanted to let you know what a pleasure it has been dealing with you and your company. When I decided to move and rebuild three turn of the century buildings I needed a roof to match the style but equally important I needed one that could withstand our hurricanes. No one down here had tried your product yet so I really appreciate all your patience with me and the roofing contractor (Perry Roofing). Just so you know the roofing contractor thinks this is one of the best products he have ever seen and he will be suggesting it to people who care about their homes.
We are just finishing the roof of the third house and you have no idea how many people look at the roof and say , “It’s beautiful - what is it?”. Due to your selection of tiles each of the roofs has a unique design yet all the buildings harmonize beautifully. I really couldn’t ask for a more lovely and sturdy roof. In this day of cookie cutter homes I feel fortunate to have a roof that can hold its own.
I’ll be forwarding pictures to you. Please have anyone interested in your product contact me for an unbiased view and tips on dealing with contractors new to your product (after the roofers finished the first row they were laughing at how easy it was).
Sincerely,
Maia Danielson, MD, FACOG Harlingen, TX. USA June 25, 2009 |

To Whom It May Concern:
Re: Stewart Sheet Metal & Roofing Inc.
We had a new roof installed last summer and we would highly recommend them on several accounts. 1. Extremely polite and pleasant work force. 2. Kept a very tidy workplace, especially at end of the day. 3. No damage to any landscape or surrounding areas. 4. Job performed well and on time.
Overall, probably the best trades people we have ever worked with and the Authentic Slate roof is superb.

Jim:
It has been a long time since we last talked. I thought of you the other day while at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. While at a building we're working on with a coating, I went to look at the Authentic roof we installed there with John T. Morgan Roofing about 10 years ago or more. Jim, it's still dark black, no fading, and the owner is extremely pleased with it. Just thought you might want to know.

We bought our house in the Dundas Valley near Hamilton, Ontario in January 2008. It is a beautifully situated cape cod home backing on to the noted Bruce Trail. A stream flows gently just outside the living room window. The house drew our attention not only because of its proximity to a limitless variety of trails and escarpment terrain but because of the care that had been put into its design and placement. We also thought, in our innocence, that a fine feature was the cedar shake roofing that had a charming layer of moss on a good-sized portion of the flatter sections. As it turned out the roofing was the one aspect of the home that had seen the end of its days. After a particularly wet summer, we realized that the moss was, in fact, evil and that the roof was at the end of its days. Given how much we loved the house, we decided that--no matter what--we were going to do the roof right. We wanted an environmentally responsible, elegant, permanent roofing solution. Once we did the roof, we never wanted to do anything but admire it ever again. We quickly dismissed cedar as an option. The amount of shade and moisture in our area would have led to continuing problem. Shingles seemed lame given the picture we had in mind and permanence we required. What we really wanted was slate. Or, even better, synthetic slate. Research on the Web led us quickly to Authentic Roof. A phone call the manufacturer left us amazed at the wealth of information they were willing to share. Not knowing all that much about roofing, it was a huge relief to be able to talk to someone with the patience and knowledge to walk us through the options. We even went so far as to ask for the names of a number of contractors they recommended. The three contractor options we were given provided us quotes quickly and honestly. It was easy to commit to Authentic Roof. And the contractors we chose turned out to be the most professional, thorough and careful group of hard workers you could hope for. Our roof is 55 square. They ripped off and disposed of all the old cedar and installed the new, spectacular Authentic Roof tiles in 5 days (with a crew of seven). The transformation has been amazing. The roof looks like it has always been slate, but it looks perfect. The material fits the setting so well. It's still quite new to us and we still can't help but just stare at it.

Dear James,
In the summer of 2005 we hired, at your recommendation, Casper Roofing and Renovations to install your Authentic Roofing product on our heritage home in Dundas located in Ontario, Canada. We received a number of quotes from competing companies and your product quality and pricing fit our needs perfectly. We decided to go a with a `variegated look’ mixing various shades of your gray and black tiles, and are very pleased with the resulting job. It has been four years now and we continue to receive compliments on the product, and have recommended the product to colleagues who report that they too are quite pleased with the resulting look. Sincerely yours,
Jeffrey Racine Dundas, ON. Canada |

We have just completed construction of a civic pavilion intended for use by musicians, for public events (such as our upcoming Mayoral Inauguration), and by theatre troops, among others. It is a handsome, sturdy structure with a graceful roof design that replicates the original 1880 train station built on this site. We have had many volunteers involved in the construction of this outdoor pavilion, and to a person, they all raved about the application of the Authentic Roof shingle. Many of our volunteers had never roofed a building, but they found your shingles solid, and easy to work with. They cut well and went on easily. In fact, an architect wandered through the site and commented, "I cannot believe you used real slate shingles!" It even fooled the eye of a professional. The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) is a non-profit organization that educates professionals and the general public about green building and renewable energy. This pavilion incorporates the best of what we know - your sturdy shingles, iron railings, aluminum ramp, original cobblestones, and TREX steps. We are therefore delighted to recommend your outstanding product to other professionals in the trade. Frequently we receive requests for products that use renewable energy in some fashion. The fact that your original shingles use recycled materials in the creation of them is a real plus - and of great interest to our members. Again, we thank you for allowing us to create a long-lasting building that will stand for years to come as a testimony to the implementation of top-quality products.

…when we received the mitered edge, medium grey tiles we couldn’t believe how much they looked like slate, how light they are and how easy the installation would be.. in fact, we have our engineers now looking into incorporating your product into their designs for future customers, that’s sooo COOL!!! It has been our pleasure to show these tiles to anyone who will take the time to look at them, feel them and give their input about them, always positive!!! I do believe this is the new wave of the future, as you know we're building the ARXX concrete home, so any new products that can compliment what we are trying to achieve the better. We are definately on a roll. Again, our thanks to you and your company, we are just sooo thrilled!

...We are a company supplying and installing specialty and high end roofing materials to educated, wealthy, demanding consumers. Homeowners are investing more and more money into their homes these days. Their homes are their investments and we see some pretty high end homes both in quality and size. People are looking for new and improved looks. When asked what we suggest for materials rather than the standard asphalt, Authentic Roof by Crowe is at the top of the our list. It is attractive, easy to work with and well priced. In fact, we liked it so much we installed it on our own home. What a good decision that was. The comments from passers-by have been tremendous. It looks like the real thing but is so light weight. Every customer we have installed Authentic Roof for has been so happy. Just as happy as we are with ours. Keep up the good work. You have a wonderful product.

Just a note from my desk to tell you how "happy" we are with our new Authentic Roof. Believe it or not, I really did kiss the first shingle that went on our roof! It has installed just as easily as you said it would. The color (Galveston Light Grey) is "BEAUTIFUL". Our new house was designed after a 100 year old train station, which would originally had a real slate roof. After extensive researching for real slate, not only did we not think if was practical from the money stand point at $65,000, materials only, it would also not be practical because of water and breakage. We only made one mistake in this whole process and that was going with a cheaper product XXXXXXX. By starting our garage first we knew we were in trouble after only 3 feet had been installed. Calling the distributor for XXXXXXX, gave us no help at all, The 'XXXXXXX' slate shingle would curl up on the ends. To this day 4 months later it still looks awful! Their warranty which was suppose to be for 50 years wasn't even good for 50 days. No one came out to look at the roof or help us in any way. They just told us over the phone we installed it wrong. It took me 84 days to receive a cheque for materials that were never even sent to our job. To this date we are still out almost $11,000 in a product that we will have to remove from our garage and put into the trash. The same person that installed the XXXXXXX slate on our garage also installed the Authentic Roof on our house. Authentic Roof looks so much like real slate that we are amazed. We hope to follow this letter with some pictures of both the XXXXXXX slate and your Authentic Roof slate. The brick is not yet finished, but when it is, I will send more pictures. If you have anyone that would like to share my pictures with, or my story, please feel free to do so, call me anytime.
Thanks again. Rosa Lee Pack Staffordsville, KY. USA Ph: 606-297-2972 |
